The Science Tribe LLC targets upper elementary students 8-11 (3rd-5th grade) with the intent of exposing them to hands on science in the areas of life science, chemistry, physical science, technology, and engineering. Students in elementary school are often times not exposed to science on a consistent basis which in turn causes them to lack the basic fundamentals of scientific reasoning as they progress to higher grades. This can ultimately cause them to be at a disadvantage in the competitive global workforce market once they leave high school. When children (between the ages of 8-11) are exposed to scientific reasoning at an early age; this causes them to have a better connection with other disciplines (mathematics and language arts), guide them to choose more competitive careers in the global workforce, and ultimately give them opportunities to be stronger critical thinkers when taking assessments.
Many elementary schools today do not have time to teach hands on science on a consistent basis due to the focus being primarily on reading and mathematics. The Science Tribe LLC provides hands on scientific enrichment in order to help students become stronger critical thinkers. In addition, this program provides students with essential skills that are needed in the current workforce market. Many times students cannot connect the education they learn in school with the workforce that they see in the world around them. When students leave elementary school many of them are not equipped with the basic science skills needed for the advanced sciences. This causes them to not have proficiency in the various science assessments in school. The lack of proficiency can lead many to not meet specific job qualifications as they enter the global market force.
